Psalm 38:9 “O Lord, all my longing is known to you; my sighing is not hidden from you.”

Why do we pray?  Really, we come to the Lord in prayer bringing all our thoughts and worries, concerns and praises but the truth is He knows them all and He knows our prayers before we utter them so, why bother?  The answer is relationship.  Do you call your Mom or Dad just to check in?  Do you have a best friend that knows everything about you but you still have lunch together and share whatever is on your mind?  Do you have a mentor that guides you and teaches you; even the same lesson on life because you haven’t quite worked it out yet?  These are all relationships that you choose to be a part of and prayer is a huge part of our relationship with God.  Prayer causes us to check in and take some time to sit and commune with God.  He knows our longing and our sighing is not hidden but do we know what He has to say to us about it?  Wait for the Lord, He will answer.

Lord,
Thank you for these words of hope and encouragement.  It brings me peace to know you are always aware of what we are experiencing and you care.  Help us pause in our busy times.  Help us stop for a moment and give you a call.  We need to hear what you have to say; help us listen.  I ask these things through our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.  Amen.
