John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

When I began writing my devotions I didn't have a title for them, I simply had to put something in the subject line on my email.  I wanted to help people get back into the Word of God every day.  It was some time later that the importance and message of the title became clearer to me.  Yes, I want people to pull their bible off of the shelf, out of the closet or unpack it from the boxes buried from moves long ago.  I want people to join me in reading scripture each day.  As I have delved more into the Word I have learned on a much deeper level that the words on the page are simply that unless we seek to learn from them.  The bible can be a book that we read and put away like the newspaper or a piece of mail or it can be a conduit to the Word, the Christ that was in the beginning, is now and will always be.  I hope as you study, read and pray over the words you receive from the bible that you are transported into the presence of the Word of God.  It is in this place that we are changed.  I hope that we each are blessed with this experience of the Christ today.  The Word of the Lord; Thanks be to God!

Lord,
I thank you for scripture that draws me into your Word.  I thank you for your ever present love and guidance through your Spirit and I pray for each person reading this, that they will receive your Word as you pour it out on them.  I ask all these things and praise you through Christ, the Word.  Amen.
