Hebrews 1:1-2 “Long ago God spoke to our ancestors in many and various ways by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son....”

God speaks to us, do we listen?
I have written about this before but I know I need to be reminded and I trust you would also benefit from a reminder.  Do you hear God speaking to you in scripture or through the voice of the pastor in your church?  Do you feel His guidance through the guidance of friends, neighbors or kindly strangers?  Do you notice the still small voice of His Spirit keeping you on the path of His kingdom?
Maybe prophets are a thing of the past, a communication for our ancestors and no longer used by God; maybe.  Maybe the noise of our world has become so loud we cannot hear them when they speak and we do not see their writings through the gluttony of writings that are available to us.  Maybe the words of the Son are just what we need to focus on.  Jesus spoke and taught us many things through is words, his actions and his inaction.  He quoted the prophets in his teachings and so we also learn their words.
However God speaks to us today, let us open our ears to truly hear and listen to His message for us.

Lord,
The words of the prophets of old still lead us; the words of your Son guide us more clearly.  Allow us to hear your message to us clearly and without doubt.  Move us to lead lives in harmony with what you teach us and call us to do.  Keep us from distraction and straying from your truth but use us to bring your love and light to those around us so all will come to hear you and to know you.  Amen.
