2 Timothy 2:8 “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, a descendant of David – that is my gospel,”
We are a forgetful people. I think back and remember things that were so important or so ‘in’ that have passed by and new things have taken their place. When I was growing up there was no way to see a movie except to pile into the car and go to a theater, then we got VCR s and now we can watch movies with a push of a button on a remote or computer or phone. We used to have to go to the library or bookstore if we wanted a new book to read. We would browse the shelves looking for something that piqued our interest. Now we search on our computer or phone and download to our tablets and we never have to turn a page or step out of our home if we don’t want to. Who needs theaters and libraries we have everything we need right at our fingertips. We can even have groceries delivered to our home that we order on the computer... In this world of instant gratification and daily new upgrades remember Jesus Christ. As we move closer to the holiday season let the memory of Christ fill our hearts and souls so that we never forget and we remember anew that He is unchanged and unchanging.
Lord,
You are the constant in our ever changing world. Your love and gift of mercy were poured out for us so long ago and they still stand ready for the taking. Help us step away from the new-fangled and embrace the tried and true; you and your love. Renew the gospel within us. Amen.
