Palm Sunday
Luke 19:37-38 “As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, saying ‘Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!  Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!’”

Palm Sunday is one of the favorites of my kids.  They love waving the palm branches and singing the happy songs of praise we sing in church on this day.  Indeed, this is a day of celebration.  As adults we have so many things on our minds, so much responsibility, so much to do...  it is harder to get to a place of pure joy and celebration.  On this day of joy and praise I encourage you to look past all of the burdens you carry and search deep for the true joy we all have in our hearts for our Lord and our creator God.  In the midst of the daily grind and regardless of whatever our current struggles are, we can look around us and see the deeds of power that still occur in our world today.  Let go of your strife and struggle for one day.  Join in the celebration because even though dark days are ahead we know this story has a very happy ending.

Lord,
You came to Jerusalem so long ago fulfilling prophecies of old.  You still come to us today.  You still show us your power and presence today.  Let us find within us the joy and adoration to lift our voices in praise and song.  All glory, laud and honor to you on this blessed day.  Amen.
