Luke 4:33-34 “In the synagogue there was a man who had the spirit of
an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, ‘Let us alone! What have you to do with us, Jesus of
Nazareth? Have you come to destroy
us? I know who you are, the Holy One of
God.’”
I believe in demons. Bear
with me on this, if you will. Demons are
not physical monsters like we have seen in the movies but they are real. Spiritual warfare is real. We are a people who struggle with believing
what we cannot see. Most of us like to
see it to believe it, as the saying goes.
The bible has several stories about Jesus battling demons and even the
disciples were given power and authority over demons. Throughout time there is a big debate over
who Jesus of Nazareth really was. Was he
a prophet or a rabbi? Maybe he was a
cult leader. These verses confirm who
Jesus of Nazareth is. Even the demon,
his adversary, knows without doubt who Jesus is and the power He holds. In the book of Acts, chapter two, God sends
his Spirit to dwell in the disciples and through Peter He promises to send His
Spirit upon all flesh. In Jesus
sacrifice; His death and resurrection on the cross, he defeated the
demons. They no longer have power over
us that we do not allow. Cast the voices
of doubt and darkness away from you today, in the power of the Holy Spirit, we have
been given that strength! Alleluia and
Amen!
Lord,
You are amazing! I cannot
begin to understand the power you have and then the love that you have for each
and every one of us. Encourage us with
your words today. Empower us with the
knowledge of your Spirit in us. Thank
you for rescuing us from darkness, help us remain in your light and love. Amen.
